Lubbock police have identified a man who was killed at a central Lubbock hotel Sunday night.

Officers responding to reports of a shooting in the 5200 block of Q South Drive found 35-year-old Orion Akins dead from apparent gunshot wounds, police said. The call came just before 8pm on Sunday.

Police had not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting as of Monday evening, although authorities said they believed there was no threat to the public.

The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit continues to investigate the fatal shooting. Investigators have not released any other details about the incident, including what may have led to the shooting.
