A second suspect has been charged after two teens were killed in a shooting outside an East Nashville school


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A second teen has been taken into custody in connection with the incident Two more teenagers were killed after an apparent targeted shooting in the parking lot of an East Nashville school Thursday evening.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the shooting occurred around 7 p.m. on February 8, in the parking lot of Meigs Magnet School on Ramsey Street.

Officials said 16-year-old Takeo Beals of Chapel Hill and 17-year-old Jalen McAdams of Franklin drove together to the parking lot in a white Nissan Altima at about 6:50 p.m.

A black Honda Accord was already in the parking lot, with 18-year-old Rico Doss Jr. and another person inside, according to authorities. After the Altima pulled up next to the Honda, Doss and the other individual allegedly got into the back seat of the Altima, both victims were shot, and Doss and the other individual then exited the Altima and sped off in the Honda.

Police said McAdams died at the scene, but Bales died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

According to police, Doss was taken into custody at his Bellevue apartment on Friday, February 9 on an outstanding warrant for attempted murder for attempted murder. A 17-year-old was shot on Saturday, February 3, in the Belshire area During “A Marijuana Deal Gone Bad.”

However, Doss is also charged with two counts of criminal homicide in connection with the Thursday evening shooting, authorities said, adding that a drug-related motive is under investigation for the shooting.

Then, on Sunday, February 11, officials announced that investigators had arrested 17-year-old Ashton Brown at his Bellevue home on a charge of criminal homicide, saying he was the second suspect in the killings of Bales and McAdams.

Additional details about the ongoing investigation into Thursday’s fatal double shooting have not been released.
