An employee at a Colonial Heights pawn shop was shot after an altercation with a co-worker in the parking lot
COLONIAL HEIGHTS — Police are investigating a shooting outside a city pawn shop late Friday that sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to police reports, two suspects are wanted in connection with the incident that occurred around 4:45 p.m. outside Cal’s on the Avenue at the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge. It appears to stem from an altercation between two store employees in the parking lot.

After shooting the victim, another suspect beat him with a firearm, police said. The suspects then got into a dark-colored pickup truck and headed north on the boulevard to Colonial Heights.
Cal’s is located at the mouth of the bridge that crosses the Appomattox River and connects Colonial Heights to Petersburg.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with what police described as serious injuries. Motorists and others were asked to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
