A 17-year-old has died after being shot in the parking lot of a Gwinnett County shopping center, police said.


Gwinnett County officers are investigating after a 17-year-old was shot and killed early Saturday morning.

According to the department, officers were called Saturday at 2:15 a.m. to Northside Duluth Hospital regarding a person shot.

Police later learned that the shooting occurred in the parking lot of 4500 Satellite Boulevard in Duluth. The address appears to be a shopping mall with popular restaurants and lounges.

Police said the victim was in critical condition at the time of the accident.

Later Saturday, Gwinnett authorities learned of the victim’s death. The victim was identified as Elbert “Josh” Brown, 17, of Snellville. He was taken to hospital by friends.

The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation and no suspects have been arrested, officials said. The investigation is ongoing.
