Two Monroe County residents are Toledo SEAL and Power Squadron officers

Toledo — Two of the six new officers at the Toledo Yacht Club are from Monroe County.

Deb Shaulis of Erie is the 2024 secretary and Michelle Appel of Carleton is the 2024 treasurer of the Toledo Sail and Power Squadron. The organization held a change of watch ceremony on Jan. 6 at the Maumee River Yacht Club.

The officers of the 2024 Toledo Sail and Power Squadron are (from left): Deb Shawless of Erie, secretary;  Jonathan Bensman of Toledo, administrative officer;  Tanya Tate of Lucky, Ohio, executive director;  Frank Chernigoski of Point Place, Ohio, commander;  Ricky Wu of Point Place, Education Officer;  and Michelle Appel of Carlton, treasurer.

The 2024 Officer Bridge was sworn in by D29 Commander, Sandra Beck. Lunch was also served.

TSPS, a member of the Boating Club of America, promotes safe boating, education and fellowship year-round, the organization said. This year’s classes start in February, March and April.
