Erie’s anti-abortion group, People for Life, is heading to the 51st March for Life in D.C
The anti-abortion group, which has traveled by bus to the March for Life every year since March 1 on Jan. 22, 1974, will send approximately 55 Erie area residents, to include 20 Gannon University students representing… Students for life Organized to participate in this event.
The March for Life, which begins at noon Friday, typically involves tens of thousands of people who gather on the National Mall and then march on Capitol Hill. The event is held each January on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in all 50 states.
While the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, the march continues to rally to change laws at the state and federal levels and change the culture, according to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”. March for Life website.
“We want to keep the issues of human life front and center, and this is an issue that affects the character of the entire nation,” said Tim Broderick, executive director of People for Life.
The Erie group, which plans to return to Erie on Saturday, will have the opportunity to tour Washington, D.C., and attend a reception hosted by U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, D-Butler, 16th District.

Will there be an Erie rally?
People for Life, which usually hosts the Erie march in January, will host a march on May 4, Broderick said.
