A 19-year-old New York man training to become a special education teacher was stabbed to death by his housemate while studying in England at the University of Hull, police said.

Humberside Police said Sachin Hawkins died on Wednesday at the hospital where he was being treated.

Hawkins’ roommate, 24-year-old Syed Hussain Kazi, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder on Thursday. Police said Hussain Kazi fled the house they shared after the attack and was arrested after an extensive search.
