Cops say a man was fatally wounded in an overnight shooting in the Deep South
A 26-year-old man was fatally wounded Friday night in a drive-by shooting that left another man critically injured in the Far South Roseland neighborhood, police said.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of someone shot in the first block of East 110th Street, and found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A 37-year-old man suffered a wound to the neck and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
A preliminary investigation revealed that an armed man riding in a silver SUV opened fire in the direction of the two victims, wounding them. No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
