Fallen Austin Police Officer, Jorge Pastore, will be honored during the funeral

Funeral for Jorge “Jorge” Pastore, the Austin SWAT officer who was killed last weekend after an attack Shootout at a home in South Austinwhich will be held on Friday morning.

Pastore (38 years old) was killed by a gunman who police said had barricaded himself in a house after killing his mother and brother and stabbing another person who managed to escape and call 911.

police Called all emergency vehicles to join a procession through the city to the Circuit of the Americas, where Pastore’s visitation and funeral are scheduled to take place afterwards. Thousands of people are expected to line the streets to watch the procession.

Visitation is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Germania Insurance Coliseum, while the funeral will be from 11 a.m. to noon, with police honors immediately afterward in the parking lot.

The night Jorge Pastore was killed

When police arrived at 9308 Bernoulli Drive around 3 a.m., they found the injured woman, who said the suspect was still carrying the knife. When the police entered the house, they were shot, prompting a SWAT team to be called to the scene.

Austin’s SWAT team forced entry into the home at about 4 a.m. with Pastore leading the charge. A shootout ensued as officers approached the back bedroom where the suspect had barricaded himself.

Just minutes later, a call came out that two officers had been shot, and they were taken to the hospital. Pastore succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital.

The injured officer, though not identified by the Austin Police Department, returned home earlier this week to continue recovery.

The two victims were Iman Al-Nimr Nassar and Riyad Nassar. They were found dead inside the house. The suspect, Ahmed Nassar, also died after being shot by police.
