Previous accusations of rape by Hamas fighters came from emergency responders from the Zakka group who collected bodies from looted kibbutzim and the festival site. Some respondents said they saw the naked bodies of dead women with signs of abuse.
It is believed that the Israeli authorities are detaining hundreds of suspects involved in this case Hamas attack.
Israeli authorities have not previously reported any official cases of rape, but several women taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, some of them party-goers captured at the festival, were paraded naked in the streets of Gaza.
Shani Luke, a German-Israeli woman who went to the festival, was seen half-naked and unconscious lying face down in the back of a pickup truck full of militants in Gaza.
She was later declared dead When authorities found bone fragments that matched her DNA.
