Police say an investigation is underway after a woman stabbed her mother and daughter in Stoneham
A woman was taken into custody after her mother and adult daughter were stabbed inside a Stoneham home Wednesday morning, law enforcement officials said.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a home on San Jose Terrace just after 8 a.m. and found both victims suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds, according to law enforcement officials.
The victims, whose names were not revealed, were taken to an area hospital to receive treatment.
Video from the scene showed a group of investigators gathered at the home and the area covered in yellow crime tape.
Investigators noted that the initial investigation indicated that the woman involved was experiencing a mental health crisis and that the incident appeared to be domestic in nature.
“The suspect is a relative of the victims. All parties were known to each other, and there is no additional risk to the community,” Stoneham Police Chief James O’Connor said in a statement.
It is not clear whether the suspect, whose name has not been revealed, will face charges. She was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
No additional details were immediately available.
The investigation is ongoing.
