Police are investigating two different shootings involving cars on I-85
Police are investigating two different car shootings that occurred just hours apart on Interstate 85 this week.
The first happened Monday near Brookshire Avenue. In this case, one driver was unable to pass the car, and another driver opened fire in a fit of road rage, police said.
The second crash occurred around 3 p.m. Monday on the ramp from Exit 43 to I-85 South in University City. Police said someone opened fire on the driver’s car.

The shooting happened within hours, but the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it does not believe the two cases are related.
Investigators did not share details about the suspect’s vehicles. They said this type of case is difficult to solve.
Channel 9 asked for data on how often this has happened over the past year, as we’ve covered two other similar stories. Police said the information is not readily available.
