Police say a manhunt is on after a highway shooting left two people injured on I-95
A manhunt is underway for the suspect, and deputies say he fired shots at another vehicle on Interstate 95, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. The accident resulted in two people being injured.

According to SJCSO, the accident occurred when a red vehicle pulled alongside another vehicle on I-95 in broad daylight and opened fire, wounding two of its occupants.
The victims’ car crashed into the central guardrail, wounding a man and leaving a woman with broken glass. The suspect’s car fled the scene, leaving chaos behind.
Nicholas Scarpa, one of the eyewitnesses, expressed his astonishment at the audacity of the attacker.
“I saw a lot of forensic units, a lot of police officers, and a white Mercedes with four or five bullet holes in the windshield,” Scarpa said in a conversation with Action News Jax.
The shooting and ensuing crash, which occurred around 11:20 a.m., led to the complete closure of all southbound lanes on I-95 near County Road 210 and International Golf Parkway. Scarpa said they experienced significant delays, with traffic coming to a complete halt for approximately 25-30 minutes.
“In broad daylight before lunchtime it is considered rude to shoot,” Scarpa said, reflecting the shock shared by the community.
Action News Jax has learned that one victim remains in critical condition as a result of the incident.

Despite continued efforts, the authorities have so far not made any arrests related to the case.
In response, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office issued a public warning, urging individuals not to approach the red vehicle if they see them but instead immediately call 911. They are actively seeking assistance from anyone who may be in the vicinity at the time and possess Information or video footage related to the incident.
Scarpa expressed his hope that a solution would be reached: “I hope that justice will be served, and whoever was shot is fine.”
The authorities continue to appeal to the public for assistance in identifying and locating the persons responsible.
