Two people have been shot near the Caribbean Carnival festival in Worcester

Police said two people were shot and wounded near the Caribbean Festival in Worcester on Sunday afternoon.

Worcester Police said two male victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being shot near Salisbury Street and Boynton Street and were taken to a nearby hospital.

The shooting occurred while the tenth annual Worcester Caribbean American Carnival was being held at nearby Insitute Park.

Festival-goers can watch live performances until 6:30pm and shop from vendors until 7:00pm. The show is scheduled to take place in front of Worcester City Hall at 1:30 p.m.

Worcester Police say no arrests have been made but the investigation is active and ongoing.

Although officials in Boston say the shooting was unrelated to the festivities, eight people were shot in Dorchester on the outskirts of the Caribbean Carnival parade in Dorchester on Saturday morning.

Six adult men and two adult women were shot, according to Boston police. Five of the men and a woman were taken to nearby hospitals. Two victims suffered from tremors and refused treatment. All injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
