Arlington police said a man was killed in a hit-and-run accident caused by a drunk driver
One person has been killed and another taken into custody after Arlington police said a drunk driver crashed into a parked car, killing the driver, early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to calls about a hit-and-run incident at the 3600 block of Texas Route 360 southbound around 5:15 a.m., according to an Arlington police press release. There, they found a 2012 Toyota Yaris parked in the outer lane. Investigators believe the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado collided with the Toyota, causing the driver to be ejected.
The 33-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the driver’s identity after notifying the next of kin.
According to the press release, the driver of the Silverado, whose identity has not been revealed, left the area without stopping. An off-duty police officer from another agency followed and Silverado and Mansfield police were able to stop the vehicle.
According to the press release, Arlington and Mansfield police arrested the driver and charged him with involuntary manslaughter while intoxicated and failing to stop and render assistance.
