Two Elk Grove schools were briefly locked down Wednesday morning while officers detained three people connected to a suspected stolen vehicle, including one who tried to flee police.

Joseph Kerr Middle School at on the 8800 block of Elk Grove Blvd., at Elk Grove Florin Road, and Elk Grove Montessori School west of the Kerr campus on Williamson Drive were locked down as a precaution, Elk Grove police said in a social media post just after 9 a.m.

The lockdown was soon lifted and the three people were taken into custody, police said in the post. Arrest information was not immediately known Wednesday.
