SLO Police have arrested a citizen suspected of starting 3 fires at Madonna Plaza
The San Luis Obispo Police Department has arrested a San Luis Obispo resident on suspicion of starting a set of fires at the Madonna Plaza Shopping Center, according to a statement from the department.
The statement said witnesses observed Cody Allen Miller, 34, setting a fire next to a building and adding trash to the fire at about 4:21 p.m. Tuesday.
The statement stated that witnesses also noted that Miller started two additional fires in the shopping center, one in an unoccupied truck cabin in the parking lot and the other in a dumpster behind a restaurant.
Firefighters put out all three fires, and the patrol arrested Miller after he fled across the street toward Laguna Lake Park, the statement said.
The cost of the damage is unknown, the statement said, as is Miller’s motive for starting the alleged fires.
Miller has been booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on three counts of felony arson and one misdemeanor count of providing false identification to a police officer, according to the release.
Miller is currently still incarcerated on a $25,000 bond.
