‘Multiple victims’ in shooting at Concord, New Hampshire State Hospital; The suspect is dead
CONCORD, N.H. — A shooting occurred at New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord Friday afternoon with “multiple victims,” state police said. Authorities say the suspect has died and the situation is now “contained.”
The New Hampshire Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management said at 4 p.m Social media sharing“We are aware of the situation unfolding at New Hampshire Hospital. Police are on scene and responding.”
Minutes later, the department He said “The situation has been contained at New Hampshire Hospital. The scene remains active and the suspect has died.”
The 185-bed facility is an acute psychiatric hospital. The hospital has its own security force and visitors are required to pass through metal detectors.
Governor Chris Sununu issued a statement about the hospital incident.
“This afternoon, an incident occurred at New Hampshire Hospital, and has been contained. While the scene remains active while the campus is cleared, the suspect has died. The state was immediately mobilized, and first responders and law enforcement are on scene. We will provide further “As much detail as possible as this situation develops.”
